Delaware Increases Coverage Requirements for Public Carriers and TNCs

Delaware Increases Coverage Requirements for Public Carriers and TNCs

Delaware has enacted Senate Bill 209, relating to transportation and insurance coverage for the Delaware Transportation Authority, public carriers, and transportation network companies (TNCs). The Governor signed the bill into law on October 14, 2022, and it becomes effective on April 14, 2023.

The bill increases the death, bodily injury, and property damage insurance coverage required for the Delaware Transportation Authority (i.e. DART buses) and public carriers as defined by Chapter 18, Title 2, to that which is already required by a TNC. The bill also requires that public carriers, TNCs, and the Delaware Transportation Authority possess uninsured and underinsured insurance coverage to protect their passengers.
