Rhode Island Issues Auto Body Labor Rate Survey to Specific Insurers

On April 29, 2022, the Rhode Island Department of Business Regulation published Insurance Bulletin Number 2022-2 issuing a mandatory response to the 2022 Auto Body Labor Rate Survey from specific, identified insurers and groups. The responses are requested from insurers and insurance groups with the 1% or greater market share, based upon the 2021 calendar year premium data reported to the Department through the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC).

Prior to June 1, 2022, the identified insurers and groups must send questionnaires to the Fully Licensed Auto Body Repair Facilities listed within two charts the Department has provided on its website. The questionnaires and submission of the report to the Department may be done on a group basis. All insurers that conduct a survey and determine a prevailing auto body labor rate must email a report and the prevailing labor rates for each classification of shops, including a separate rate for aluminum, if applicable, to dbr.specialreports@dbr.ri.gov no later than September 1, 2022. Hard copies should not be submitted.

Questions regarding Insurance Bulletin 2022-2 may be directed to dbr.specialreports@dbr.ri.gov.
